Claudette Simpson is CNA’s vice president of Human Resources, providing leadership and operating management responsibility for all HR and organizational effectiveness affairs including employment/recruitment, compensation, employee relations, training & development.
From 1986 to 1995, Simpson was CNA’s manager of Employment and Training, then became Director of Human Resources for the American Chemical Society. She returned to CNA in 2007. She has also worked at the Association of American Medical Colleges and Trinity College, both in Washington, D.C.
In her experience as an organizational development professional she has engaged diverse stakeholders in the process of change which included implementing initiatives in the following areas: competency based strategic planning; performance management; compensation plan designs and organizational effectiveness. Programs she designed and led included an executive/management succession program; a performance-based executive reward system linking individual performance to organizational strategies; and the use of Individual Development Plans as a companion to the performance review process to demonstrate the organization’s commitment to growth and development of all staff.
Simpson earned a master’s in Human Resources Development with a concentration in Adult Learning Principles and Group Dynamics from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. Her bachelor’s degree is in English from Trinity College, Washington, D.C.
