James Alexander

Jim Alexander is an expert in correctional operations. His experience includes direct oversight and administration of prison operations, including health care and outpatient mental health care. His specialty is leadership, training, and managing complex operations. His private work in healthcare settings has focused on restructuring, process redesign, improvement initiatives and growth to achieve strategic goals. At CNA, Alexander has been engaged in the COVID-19 Detection and Mitigation in Confinement Facilities project, along with providing subject matter expertise to the Jails and Justice Support Center for the U.S. Department of Justice. 

Prior to joining CNA, Alexander was a deputy warden and coauthored an interim care mental health pilot program that provided support to participants, including progressive levels of positive behavior changes. Additionally, he has been an instructor in higher education for over 25 years and has extensive executive leadership training experience, guiding corrections professionals and students in graduate and undergraduate programs. Alexander also has executive operations experience at two health care companies where he was asked to restructure and scale private healthcare operations with multi-site management.

Alexander has a Master of Arts degree in administrative service with a concentration in public administration and a Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice, both from Northern Michigan University.
