Gabriela Rosa Hernandez

Gabriela I. Rosa Hernandez is a specialist in Russia's security policy. Her recent research has focused on Russian strategic deterrence, security orders, conventional and nuclear arms control in Europe, and the Russian military. She has significant in-country experience in Russia, Latvia, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia, Poland, and other countries in the region.

Prior to joining CNA, she was a research associate at the Arms Control Association, where she focused extensively on the erosion of conventional arms control agreements in Europe and the signaling benefits of military transparency. Her commentary has been featured in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Time magazine, and other media.

Rosa Hernandez holds an International Master’s Degree in Central and East European, Russian and Eurasian Studies from the University of Glasgow. She also holds a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Puerto Rico. She is a native Spanish speaker and also speaks Russian.
