Samuel Bendett said, “One challenge is that Russia is getting to see firsthand how this technology is used, and is incorporating those lessons almost as quickly as the Ukrainians can scrap their way to another idea.”

Samuel Bendett, an expert in unmanned and robotic military systems at the Center for Naval Analyses, said, "I think the Israelis are likely seeing what does and does not work in Ukraine — the key is to create an effective and relatively cheap defense against incoming drones, and Ukrainians are one of the leading developers in that area right now."

Samuel Bendett said, "We are witnessing a similar pattern on both sides when it comes to UGV developments."

Dimitri Gorenburg, political scientist, expert in military strategy and Russian foreign policy at the Center for Naval Analysis, assessed “I am not optimistic about peace efforts to stop the war at this time. Putin believes he is winning, so there is no reason for him to stop.”

Samuel Bendett said that tanks used as “breaching vehicles in frontal attacks” have proven to be especially vulnerable.

Samuel Bendett said, “Russian and Ukrainian commentators and bloggers note often that the adversary has more drones and can better operate them.”

Samuel Bendett said he assumed that countries interested in procuring Iranian drones are states across “Africa and the Middle East that don’t have a problem with Iranian politics and don’t have a lot of money to buy expensive drones.”

Samuel Bendett said that Russia does not currently have an analogue to the Baba Yagas.
