Jonathan Schroden directs the Center for Stability and Development at CNA. Since joining CNA in 2003, Schroden has deployed ten times to Afghanistan, twice to Iraq, and traveled extensively throughout the Middle East.

Carter Malkasian  was the special assistant for strategy to Joint Chiefs of Staff Chairman Gen. Joseph Dunford, from 2015 to 2019. He spent nearly two years in Garmser district, Helmand province, Afghanistan, as a State Department political officer.
