Marital Status Approximately 9 percent of FY 2001 Selected Reserve NPS enlisted accessions were married (Table 5.5). The marriage rates of prior service recruits look markedly different, with 44 percent married. The FY 2001 prior service cohort, predominantly those leaving active duty enlisted service who chose to affiliate with the Reserves, were slightly less likely to be married than active duty enlisted members (48 percent). Also, prior service Reserve recruits were less likely to be married than their civilian counterparts, 20- to 39-year-old civilians in the labor force (50 percent). Among FY 2001 prior service Reserve accessions, a somewhat larger proportion of males were married than females (45 and 39 percent, respectively)
