3. In FY03, there was a change in the way DoD reported race/ethnicity data. However, the new race data were not available for all services until after the first quarter of FY03. As a result, the DoD data for individual race groupings reflect accessions for only the last three quarters of FY03.  First quarter total accessions were added to DoD second through fourth quarter subtotals in order to illustrate cross-year aggregate comparisons.  FY03 percentages by race grouping are for the last three quarters of FY03.
