The Hunt™ Wargame Series

The Hunt™ series of games pit Blue and Red players against each other in the hider-finder battle. They were designed as professional wargames, part of CNA’s support to the military in educating and training US forces to survive and win by countering their adversaries’ intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and targeting (ISRT) efforts. These lethal games of hide and seek are founded on a novel visualization of the information environment where Blue units are surrounded by three concentric rings—Detectable, Locatable, and Targetable—representing increasing levels of threat. Red players seek to maneuver sources of information toward units, while Blue players leverage counter-ISRT tactics to prevent Red from finding them.

The interactive gameplay and scenarios in the Hunt™ series foster an active learning environment, allowing players to rapidly gain familiarity with complex and diverse information environment topics. The games are based on in-depth CNA analytical studies on the information environment and translate the recommendations of those studies into an experiential environment. Each game is customized for a particular military audience: EAB Hunt™ for Marines in expeditionary advanced base operations (EABO), ARG Hunt™ for amphibious ready groups, and CLF Hunt™ for civil service mariners of the Combat Logistics Force. CNA has both facilitated the Hunt™ series for sponsoring commands and trained command staff to facilitate the games themselves.

Boxed copies of EAB Hunt™ and ARG Hunt™ are available on the GameCrafters website.
