2024 JRI Virtual Symposium—Futurescape of Justice: Improving Public Safety

Join CNA’s Center for Justice Research and Innovation (JRI) on September 5th for our second annual virtual symposium to share our research and work supporting the justice field. This half-day event includes discussions with leading experts on topics such as emerging technology, public safety member well-being, violence reduction, and critical incident response. Panelists will share information on JRI’s various research and evaluation studies, training and technical assistance, and organizational reform efforts.
Fireside Chats
In 2024, PAJ involved a series of fireside chats focused on risks, benefits, and action items to prepare for the future of corrections using a STEEP (societal, technological, ecological, economic, political) framework.
2023 CNA Center for Justice, Research, and Innovation Virtual Symposium
On August 30-31, 2023, the CNA Center for Justice Research and Innovation’s (JRI) Project on American Justice (PAJ) hosted the first JRI Virtual Symposium. The symposium brought together criminal justice researchers and practitioners to discuss emerging and critical topics in the justice system. NIJ Director Nancy La Vigne, a nationally recognized criminal justice policy expert, joined the symposium as the keynote speaker. Sessions also included presentations and roundtables highlighting research, training and technical assistance, and reform work that JRI is engaged in. These sessions covered the following topics: the role of police, prosecutors, and corrections in society, community relations, emerging technologies, civilianization of traditional justice functions, organizational change and development, and the future of the criminal justice system.
