Ryan Baker, Ph.D.
Ryan Baker specializes in analysis to inform decision-making, research design in observational settings, and issues affecting the US Marine Corps. At CNA, he has led projects related to training, readiness, force design, and how the Marine Corps uses performance evaluations in its selection board process. As part of CNA’s Scientific Analyst Program, he serves as the primary liaison between CNA and Training and Education Command (TECOM), a Marine Corps command in Virginia.
Baker is also a reserve officer in the Marine Corps. Over the course of his military career, he has served as a logistics officer, company commander, executive officer, chief of staff, and a member of the Marine Innovation Unit. Before joining the reserves, he served as a ground supply officer in the active component for several years and deployed overseas twice: once as part of the 2007 “surge” in Iraq and once aboard USS Peleliu.
Baker holds a PhD in public policy and a Master of Arts in security studies from George Washington University, as well as a Bachelor of Science in political science from the University of Utah.
