Heather Perez is an expert in violence reduction strategies, strategic action planning, partnership building, research partner acquisition, and drug market intervention training. She is currently the CNA project director for work supporting the Crime and Corrections Analyst in Residence Program and the National Initiatives, Law Enforcement and Prosecution training and technical assistance program. She is also a subject matter expert on the Smart Policing Initiatives grant.

Over many years on the faculty of Michigan State University’s School of Criminal Justice, Perez has worked on the Project Safe Neighborhoods national evaluation and training and technical assistance team, the Drug Market Intervention Training and Technical Assistance Initiative, the Comprehensive Anti-Gang Initiative, the Innovations Suite Training and Technical Assistance team, the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network, and international exchanges with Chile and Argentina. She also assisted with the development of the Innovations Suite Researcher-Practitioner Fellows Academy at Michigan State.

Perez holds a Master of Arts degree in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska Omaha.
