Gentry Schaffer

Gentry Schaffer is an expert in practitioner research on policing, procedural justice, program evaluation and other criminal justice topics. Her recent research has focused on forensic investigative technology to solve backlogs of sexual assault kits and cold case homicides, gun violence reduction strategies, and reducing sentencing disparities among similarly situated offenders in the federal criminal justice system.

Prior to joining CNA, Schaffer was a senior consultant with Booz Allen Hamilton, providing performance measurement, project management, and subject matter expertise for a variety of U.S. Department of Justice initiatives. She also has experience as a crime analyst, forensic investigator, and academic.

Schaffer volunteered as a police officer with the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington, D.C., while completing a fellowship with Georgetown University Law Center, where she received a certification in law enforcement and police administration. She holds a Master of Arts in criminal justice and criminology from Sam Houston State University and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from the University of Texas at Austin.
