
Jonathan Schroden, Ph.D.
Jonathan Schroden is an expert on strategic competition, irregular warfare, Marine Corps and special operations, force design, and strategic and operations assessment.
Schroden previously served as the research director for the Afghanistan War Commission, acting vice president and director of CNA's Strategy, Policy, Plans, and Programs Division, director of CNA’s Countering Threats and Challenges Program, and director of CNA’s Special Operations Program. He is also the author of a forthcoming book on the history of US counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan.
His recognitions include CNA's Phil E. DePoy Award for Analytical Excellence and the Cornell University Tunis Wentink Award. He has also been inducted into the Academy of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Schroden is a frequent media commentator.
Schroden holds a doctorate and a Master of Science in physical chemistry from Cornell University. In addition, he has a Bachelor of Science in physics and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Minnesota Duluth.
