Casey Steadman, Ph.D.

Research Scientist

Casey Steadman is an expert in the food-energy-water nexus with an emphasis on the biogeochemistry of nexus dynamics. Her research addresses homeland security, natural disasters, climate, emergency management, and critical lifelines, with the objective of improved preparedness and resilience.

She leads and supports a range of projects through analysis and modeling, traditional and digital report generation, geospatial product development, and stakeholder engagement efforts in support of federal, regional, state, and local agencies. Steadman received CNA’s 2024 Institute for Public Research Principles Award, recognizing sustained excellence in achieving the institute’s guiding principles.

Steadman has a dual Ph.D. in water resources science and biological and ecological engineering and a Master of Science in water resources science from Oregon State University. She also has a Bachelor of Science in biochemistry and cell biology from the University of California San Diego and is a certified geospatial information scientist. She in proficient in Spanish.
