CNA Welcomes Riz Jan as CIO
CNA Corporation today announced that Riz Jan has joined our team as the chief information officer. He will lead our technology and security practices and will share his expertise as CNA continuously strengthens its information systems.
CNA is a nonprofit research and analysis organization dedicated to the safety and security of the nation. It operates the Center for Naval Analyses — the Federally Funded Research and Development Center (FFRDC) of the Department of the Navy — as well as the Institute for Public Research.
“I am confident that Riz is the person to lead our current and future information technology needs,” said CNA President and CEO Dr. Katherine McGrady. “He has the right experience and attitude to help us achieve our business goals, while staying true to our core values. Riz brings experience in government regulation and classified environments to the table, as well as an understanding of IT modernization.”
Jan comes to CNA from the Henry M. Jackson Foundation for the Advancement of Military Medicine, where he served as both the chief information officer and the chief information security officer for six years.
“I am very excited to take on this new challenge at CNA,” said Jan. “I am committed to ensuring our technology and security practices are flawless, in turn helping CNA deliver honest, accurate, usable research to inform the important work of public policy decision-makers.”
During his time with the Henry M. Jackson Foundation, he guided the development and implementation of an information security program designed to protect systems and assets from internal and external threats. He led a digital transformation of IT service delivery through workflow automation, engagement growth, enhanced global information security and investment in IT talent. Jan also worked at Booz Allen Hamilton, where he collaborated with analysts to detect, prevent, and respond to cybersecurity incidents and breaches, mitigating long-term damage. In addition, he has experience in digital transformation, risk management and performance metrics analysis.
Jan holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration in finance from Frostburg State University and has obtained a variety of technical professional certifications, including the Certified Information Systems and Security Professional (CISSP), Certified Third-Party Risk Professional (CTPRP) from Shared Assessments, and Payment Card Industry Professional (PCIP).
In addition, Riz is a member of the ISACA CSX Working Group. He serves on the InspireCIO Advisory Board, Enterprise Mobility Advisory Board, IPQC Enterprise Digitalization Advisory Board, Mid-Atlantic CIO Forum, and the University of South Florida – MUMA College of Business Advisory Committee on Cybersecurity for Executive Education.
