CNA Welcomes Mark J. Robertson as Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary
The CNA Corporation today announced that Mark J. Robertson has accepted the position of Senior Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary at the nonprofit research organization. He will assume responsibility for CNA’s legal and government affairs.
CNA operates the Center for Naval Analyses—the federally funded research and development center (FFRDC) of the Department of the Navy—and the Institute for Public Research, which supports local, state, and federal agencies working in safety and security.
"Mr. Robertson’s legal expertise will be a tremendous addition to CNA," said CNA President and CEO Dr. Katherine McGrady. "His deep experience with federal agencies in safety and security makes him a perfect fit for our analytical support to government.”
Prior to joining CNA, Robertson served as a managing partner at Robertson & Anderson PLLC in Alexandria, Virginia. He has over 25 years of experience representing corporations, advising boards and executives, directing legal operations, building teams, and leading organizations. He has extensive knowledge in the homeland security sector, having served in several senior positions within the Department of Homeland Security, including Associate General Counsel for Science and Technology, where he provided legal and policy guidance to leaders.

In addition to positions with international law firms in New York and Washington, D.C., Mr. Robertson has held senior positions in government, including with the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Energy, and Department of Justice. He earned a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia.
