CNA Names Jonathan Schroden as Chief Research Officer
CNA announced this week that Dr. Jonathan Schroden has accepted the position of Chief Research Officer. Schroden previously served as CNA’s acting vice president of the Strategy, Policy, Plans, and Programs Division, director of the Countering Threats and Challenges Program, and director of the Special Operations Program. After several successful field tours with the II Marine Expeditionary Force in Iraq, U.S. Central Command in Tampa, and the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan, he served as research director for the Afghanistan War Commission established by Congress.
“Dr. Schroden has served in numerous capacities at CNA over the past 20 years, including leading research analysts, supporting front-line commanders, developing research programs, and accomplishing strategic initiatives,” said CNA President and CEO Dr. Katherine McGrady. “These experiences are a critical part of Jon being able to successfully lead our research at CNA.”

Schroden’s recognitions include CNA's Phil E. DePoy Award for Analytical Excellence and the Cornell University Tunis Wentink Award. He has also been inducted into the Academy of Science and Engineering at the University of Minnesota Duluth. Schroden holds a doctorate and a Master of Science in physical chemistry from Cornell University. In addition, he has a Bachelor of Science in physics and a Bachelor of Science in chemistry from the University of Minnesota Duluth. He is also the author of a forthcoming book on the history of US counterterrorism operations in Afghanistan.
