Marines assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit (MEU) attend a U.S. History class aboard USS Rushmore, Dec. 28, 2012. Marines and Sailors aboard Rushmore use the Tuition Assistance Program to enroll in courses offered by Central Texas College and Park University. The 15th MEU was deployed as part of the Peleliu Amphibious Ready Group as a U.S. Central Command theater reserve force, providing support for maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th Fleet area of responsibility.

Twenty years after his high school graduation, SFC Joshua Moon, an Army reservist from Beech Grove, Tennessee, graduated with an associate of science degree from Motlow State Community College. Deployed to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Moon was able to complete his degree with help from the Army's Tuition Assistance program and the handful of education counselors currently deployed to Afghanistan to support soldiers' educational needs.
