Education. As shown in Table 5.12, 99
percent of FY 1998 Selected Reserve enlisted members have a high school diploma or alternative credential (Tiers 1 and 2), compared to 89 percent of the comparably aged civilian labor force. Comparing Table 5.6
(education levels of Selected Reserve accessions) with Table 5.12 suggests that a significant number of enlisted members gain college experience while in the Selected Reserve (5 percent of NPS accessions versus 20
percent of enlisted members).
